I dig Joe's Downtown Donuts & Coffee. Came in this morning on my way to work (PERFECT LOCATION!) and was greeted by a man in a donut costume. What better way to start a Friday!?!?! I came in close to 8:30 so I wasn't surprised to see donuts picked over but ended up picking 5 of the most scrumptious donuts that I've had in a long while! Co-workers loved them. Might I add- split the fruit filled glazed donut and it had REAL chunks of strawberry in a syrup sauce in the middle! I've never had that happen before... Liked how many choices of coffee there were and LOVED all the syrups to add to the coffees. I'm not sure what the going rate is for coffee and donuts lately but I walked out with 5 yummy good sized donuts and a large (20 ounce, Holy Cow I'm Wired!) coffee for $10.19. Dig it. Don't know a darn thing about bagels since it was a donut morning but I'm a huge fan. Thank you for being friendly and making Donut Friday at work an absolute hit! :)

At the time of this writing, Joe's Donuts has not even been open a week. But it is certainly a welcome addition to downtown! After all, who doesn't like donuts, for goodness sakes?! Certainly, not anyone I know!! The husband saw a write up in the most recent Pitch about Joe's, along with some favorable comments from some neighbors. Well, that was enough for us (as if it would take much!), and we were off to Joe's this morning to check out the hub bub. Joe's is located at 6th & Grand, just to the south of the outer loop. It's convenient for anyone working downtown, residents of the City Market area or downtown lofts / condos and Northeast residents, like me! As I mentioned earlier, Joe's has been open just under a week, but I think they're off to a great start! It's very cozy, the staff greets you immediately and there's a very nice selection of yummy pastries. The donuts are great, fresh and plentiful, there are great looking muffins (which I didn't get to try, but I will!) and the coffee is stunningly fantastic! They also have a nice selection of teas and even hot chocolate! We were unsure of what to get, because everything looked great. So we just got a dozen. It seemed like the only solution! However, I also got an unfilled long john, which was covered in a thick coat of chocolate goo. Yeah, it didn't suck! As we sat in the donut shop, (oh yeah, there is seating available, along with free Wi-Fi!), enjoying our dozen assorted treats, I couldn't help but be thrilled to have pastries so close to home. I mean, do I NEED donuts - well, no, but don't judge me! The donuts are very good, the coffee is excellent and it's well worth a visit! Go check them out and share the in the goodness of the sweets. They do close at 3pm daily, but they're in the shop bright and early at 6:00am. So you have plenty of time to grab something before work, or just grab something...

This place is legit and has one of the best apple fritters I've ever had. Tell them you're a first-timer and you will get a FREE donut! I stopped in on a late Sunday morning to pick up a half dozen or so donuts. My only complaint is they were out of glazed donuts, so I was forced to try something a little different. Overall the selection was very limited, but it was 10:30 already. I got an apple fritter, two glazed twists (regular & chocolate together), an apple spice cake donut and one chocolate/peanut cake donut. All were spot on and the the prices were great too. I think I paid about $7 total. Next time I'll go earlier for a broader selection.

I was a little disappointed in the selection of donuts, we even went early on a rainy Saturday. I also thought they were a little dry. The best was a chocolate long john with white cream, however there were large pockets without the cream. Apple fritter was flat. But they are still donuts, so that's 3 stars in itself.

A friend brought me here this morning to grab some breakfast and I must say the donuts were wonderful. We had gotten a cinnamon roll and a Bavarian. They were moist and delicious. The restaurant is clean and the employees were very nice.

Every so often there will be some Joe's Donuts in my office kitchen on Fridays, compliments of my Boss. Your boy can't turn down free donuts. Today I had half an apple fritter, a glazed and then some boring donut that was like wheat or something. Pretty tasty. Maybe I'll go here on my own someday if I ever become donut independent. To be honest though, I can't remember the last time I bought a donut, usually donuts are just around. So I guess my review of Joe's Downtown Donuts is basically, "If they're around I would eat them." Feel free to use that tagline guys. You can pay me in donuts, or don't. It's not like I'm out in the streets buying donuts anyways.

I tried this place since it is in Downtown and on the way to work. I bought a half dozen donuts and a cup of coffee. In my opinion the cake donuts ( I had a red velvet and blueberry) were the best ones that I tried. They weren't too heavy or greasy, and just the right size. I tried a glaze donut, which was just ok for me, but I've been biased by a few great Mom and Pop donuts shops in JoCo. There are a couple things that this place has a leg up vs. those JoCo donut shops: 1. their coffee selection is much more than a single Bunn coffeepot in the front. This shop has pretty much the same coffee equipment as the next door Grand Slam Gas Station. 2. They take credit cards (though this could taken a bad thing too, since the donuts here are very slightly higher in price than the JoCo shops I've been to. If you work downtown, or visiting the River Market, give this little shop a try.

There used to be a glaring hole in downtown KCMO, a fundamental lack of office fundamentals - donuts and bagels. I mean, yes, you could buy pricy pastry at several bakeries, but I'm not always feeling quite that generous with my co-workers. I like to bring an occasional treat that won't break the bank. True, I could go to bagel joints in Crown Center, but that involves parking ramps and escalators. So I was pleased to see Joe's appear on Grand. Highlights include: - Fresh donuts -Coffee and coffee drinks - Fresh bagels - Free wi-fi - Easy street parking right in front - Friendly staff Things to work on: - If someone buys a dozen bagels, throw in some cream cheese. Sixty cents for little packs is not buyer friendly. - Get a mechanical bagel cutter. The little manual slicer is kind of slow for busy people on their way to work. Welcome to the neighborhood, Joe's! I'm glad you moved in.

The best cake donuts I've found anywhere in Kansas City. The best actually I've had anywhere. The regular glazed donuts were average to me though. Johns Space Age donuts in Overland Park remain the best regular glazed donuts and donut holes in the city as well as in any city I've ever had. They have a chocolate version that is equally as good, but they have dry average cake donuts there. That's why I'm giving Joe's 4 stars, because they have by far the best cake donuts I've ever had - anywhere - but the regular glazed donuts were average to me. Stop by and grab a dozen cake donuts for your office or family and you'll be the hero for the day. They are that good.

Noticed the business on my way to city market Saturday morning. Stopped in with my 7 year old granddaughter for a few donuts and coffee. The clerk was very friendly and the donuts were fantastic! Clean and unassuming business. Five stars for friendliness and donuts. 2.5 stars for Ronnoco coffee in self-serve carafes. Higher quality coffee would make this place even more special. Definitely going back for more!

Finally! Downtown doughnuts and bagels at a reasonable price!!! The donuts were delicious. The staff was extremely friendly! Go try this place! It is extremely convenient for anyone that lives and/or works downtown.

Tried going a few times. They open at 5:30am, but always closed by 6:00 am with a sign on the door that says "sold out." Sure they are. Impossible to sustain a business that way. Obviously a money laundering front. At least try and make it less obvious, "Joe."

Went to this donut shop on a Friday morning and the service was extremely great! The lady helped me pick out two dozen donuts quickly and let me know which donuts were most popular. Everyone at worked loved them!

Working in downtown KC is great...but until more development comes into the city, choices for food can sometimes be frustrating. For years downtown has had no option for a morning coffee and donut run. That all changed with Joe's. It's a great little shop and the donuts are tasty. They fit the bill and the coffee is good. It's a simple, straight-forward place and the staff friendly. It's a great walk from P&L and anywhere near the River Market.

Terrible customer service and the woman that works there is very rude. Supposed the be open at 530, we got there at 620 and the doors were locked. The woman just starred at us for trying to come in during supposed "open hours". Would not recommend to anyone.

I was so excited to try my first donut from this shop today, National Donut Day. However, after walking six blocks, and as I was about to cross the street and satisfy my donut desire, you locked the door and closed early because you were out of donuts at 9:15am! My dreams were dashed.
